Martina Sorbara, a Canadian singer-songwriter, goes under the moniker Dragonette. The original lineup of Sorbara, her husband Dan Kurtz (also in The New Deal), and drummer Joel Stouffer was an electronic music group from Toronto, Ontario, that was founded in 2005. Before being signed to Mercury Records and moving to London, Dragonette released a self-titled EP in 2005. Galore, their debut studio album, was then recorded there and released in August 2007 to lukewarm critical acclaim. Fixin to Thrill, the artist’s second studio album, was released in September 2009.
Bodyparts, the group’s third studio album, was released in September 2012; Royal Blues, their fourth, was published in November 2016. Up until 2016, when Kurtz and Stouffer both quit the band, they performed together. Sorbara then carried on as a solo act under the name Dragonette. In October 2022, Twennies, the fifth album by Dragonette (and her debut as a solo artist), was made available.
