Dom Kennedy is the stage name of Dominic Ross Hunn, an American rapper from Leimert Park in Los Angeles, California, who was born on August 22, 1984. Kennedy has released five independent mixtapes since 2008, with his 2010 mixtape From the Westside with Love receiving the most recognition. From the Westside with Love II, his debut studio album for sale was made available on iTunes on June 28, 2011. Kennedy’s first album to be connected with The OpM Company, the self-founded record label, FTWSWL2 gained “a top 10 spot on Hip Hop/Rap albums list during its release week” despite being his iTunes debut. His song “My Type of Party” was voted #43 on Complex magazine’s list of the Top 50 Tracks of 2012.
Dom Kennedy and Hit-Boy collaborated to form Half-A-Mil, their own Hip-Hop collective. They thereafter proceeded to release three self-titled EPs, which appeared intermittently from late 2016 to mid-2017. On November 24, 2017, they formally launched their debut album Courtesy Of Half-A-Mil. 2019 saw Kennedy make an appearance in the song “Nunya” from Kehlani’s mixtape While We Wait. The song’s music video, which debuted on February 20, 2019, included him as well.
