Tony Touch is the stage name of Joseph Anthony Hernandez, a Puerto Rican-American hip-hop break dancer, rapper, record producer, and DJ who was born on July 2, 1969.
During the early 1980s rap music renaissance, Tony Touch got his start as a B-boy. He rapidly turned his attention to turntables after being greatly impacted by pioneers like Crazy Legs and the Rock Steady Crew, Grandmaster Flash, Red Alert, Little Louie Vega, and Jam Master Jay. The 50 MCs, one of Tony’s mixtapes, is well recognized. Boot Camp Clik, Eminem, KRS-One, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Wyclef Jean, M.O.P., Big L, and Mos Def have all made cameo appearances on his mixtapes.
Tony joined EMI Records in 2005 and released the reggaeton album ReggaeTony. The lead song “Play That Song” featured Nina Sky and B-Real of Cypress Hill. Tego Calderon, Zion and Lenox, Pitbull, Ivy Queen, NORE, Voltio, Mexicano, Thirston Howl III, and Soni were among the artists who collaborated on the Album. With the album’s success, EMI rapidly prepared for the release of ReggaeTony 2. Lumidee, Plan B, Joell Ortiz, Tru Life, Don Chezina, and the Beatnuts were among the artists on this Album. Tony has sold more than a million records globally as of this writing.
