DJ Premier, often known as Preemo, is a stage name for Christopher Edward Martin, an American record producer, and DJ, born on March 21, 1966. He is regarded as one of the hip-all-time hop’s great producers. He previously made up half of the hip-hop duo Gang Starr with the rapper Guru, and he currently does the same with Royce da 5’9 in the group PRhyme.
All of Gang Starr’s tracks and a large number of those written by the Gang Starr Foundation were produced by Premier, who is well-known for doing so. He has collaborated with a number of well-known musicians, such as Anderson.Paak, AZ, Big Daddy Kane, Big L, Blaq Poet, Bun B, Canibus, Christina Aguilera, Common, Cormega, D’Angelo, Dilated Peoples, D.I.T.C., Dr. Dre, Fat Joe, The Game, Ill Bill, J. Cole, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z, Joey Bada
In the 1994 album The Sun Rises in the East and its 1996 follow-up, Fury of the Math, Premier worked with MC Jeru the Damaja. Livin’ Proof by Group Home, also from the Gang Starr Foundation, was produced and overseen by Premier; while being ignored when it was released in 1995, the album later earned praise.
Christina Aguilera, a pop/R&B artist, enlisted Premier to produce her album Return to Basics in 2006. Premier discussed the concerns he has heard about the collaboration.
