Kozalla, who was born in Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein, rose to prominence in the Hamburg music scene. He began as a rapper and DJ for several Flensburg hip-hop groups in the early 1990s. DJ Koze finished second in the German DMC Championship in 1991. (an offshoot of the Disco Mix Club). Two years later, he relocated to Hamburg and co-founded the hip-hop group Fischmob alongside Cosmic DJ, DJ Stachy, and the “Schreckliche Sven,” which lasted roughly five years.
He has been running the company Pampa Records since 2009. In his 2013 Amygdala album, released on Pampa Records, he hit the official German and Swiss charts for the first time. In addition, he received the Critics Prize for the Echo Award in 2014. The 50th episode of the DJ Mix series DJ Kicks was released on the Berlin label Studio! on June 15, 2015. K7, which drew a lot of national and international attention. In 2017, he received two Electronic Music Awards nominations for Single of the Year and Remix of the Year for his Extended Disco Version of Lpsley’s “Operator.”
