Jerome Hewlett (born August 9, 1964), better known as DJ Cash Money, is an American turntablist, hip-hop performer, and record producer located in Philadelphia. He was the first person to be inducted into the DJ Hall of Fame.

Hewlett studied engineering at college but soon became interested in turntables. He got his DJ name from the phrase “there’s the money shot,” which fans would yell anytime he made a basket while playing basketball. Cash Money cites Grandmaster Flash and Grand Wizzard Theodore as influences, whom he saw in the early 1980s, while others who cite him as an influence include British DJ Fatboy Slim.

He collaborated with MC Marvelous (born Marvin Berryman) in 1987, releasing the song “Ugly People Be Quiet” (co-produced by Herbie “Love Bug” Azor) and the album Where’s The Party At? Sleeping Bag Records is a record label based in New York. Cash Money has also produced and remixed songs for Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, Mantronix, P.M. Dawn, and Public Enemy, among others.
