American DJ and music producer Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known by his stage name Diplo, was born on November 10, 1978. In addition to being a co-creator and the band’s lead singer, he is also a part of the supergroup LSD with Sia and Labrinth, the electronic duet Jack Ü with producer and DJ Skrillex, and Silk City with Mark Ronson. He co-created the non-profit group Heaps Decent and formed and runs the record label Mad Decent. Revolution, his 2013 EP, debuted on the US Billboard 200 at position 68. The EP’s lead song later appeared in a Hyundai advertisement and is included on the WWE 2K16 soundtrack.
The British musician M.I.A., who is credited with launching Diplo’s early career, was someone he collaborated with and dated. Subsequently, he collaborated with M.I.A. and Switch to produce the Jamaican dancehall project and cartoon series known as Major Lazer. Since then, Diplo has collaborated on mixtape projects and productions with a variety of other pop stars, including Gwen Stefani, Die Antwoord, Britney Spears, Madonna, Shakira, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, No Doubt, Justin Bieber, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Trippie Redd, Chris Brown, CL, G-Dragon, Bad Bunny, Kali Uchis, Joji, M His boyhood obsession with dinosaurs is the source of his moniker, which is short for Diplodocus.
