American hip-hop trio Dilated Peoples hails from Los Angeles, California. They are better renowned in the UK, where two of their songs, “This Way” and “Worse Comes to Worst,” made it to the Top 40 on the UK Singles Chart.

When DJ Babu (of the Beat Junkies DJ group), Evidence, and Rakaa teamed up in 1992, they released “Third Degree” on ABB Records in 1997, which helped them establish their material in the underground hip-hop scene. Although it was never released, they had previously recorded an album called Imagery, War Hymns & Political Poetry (1995), which many fans still possess on bootleg tapes. The quartet eventually recorded The Platform for Capitol Records (2000).
Moreover, Dilated Peoples made numerous performances on the Odds & Evens album by Defari. Their longtime producer, the Alchemist, who worked on five songs for The Platform, three for Expansion Team, four for Neighborhood Watch, and two for 20/20, is another member of the Dilated group. On one of the songs from the Alchemists’ 1st Infantry album, Dilated Peoples were mentioned. Moreover, Rakaa contributed vocals to the songs “Memory Fades” on St. Cule’s album, American Beef, “Zet ‘t Blauw” from Dutch rapper Jerome XL’s album, De laatste dag, and “Trance Fat” from Looptroop’s album, Good Things.
