He now plays Doug Edwards on the television show Grown-ish. Daniel Dwayne “Diggy” Simmons III (born March 21, 1995) is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, model, and actor. He is the fourth child of Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons of Run DMC. He was one of the main characters of the MTV reality series Run’s House, together with his parents and five siblings. Diggy was also the newest member of the All City Chess Club, a transient rap group led by Lupe Fiasco.
The First Flight, Diggy Simmons’ first mixtape, was released in 2009. From Simmons’ blog, the CD was downloaded by more than 100,000 individuals. Simmons claims that five record labels expressed interest in signing him after the publication of the mixtape; he decided to sign with Atlantic Records.
The song “Oh Yes!” with Pharrell Williams and Lupe Fiasco leaked beforehand. In 2010, Simmons’ second mixtape, Airborne, was made available. In a nationwide AT&T television commercial that year, the mixtape song “Great Expectations” was used.
In December, Simmons released Past, Present(s), Future, his third mixtape. The DJ Premier-hosted mixtape includes snippets of music from the 1980s and 1990s, including works by Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, and Rakim. The song “Shook Ones,” which features a sample of the same-named Mobb Deep song, has a video.
