The Dandy Warhols are a Portland, Oregon-based alternative rock band founded in 1994 by singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström. Later, keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Eric Hedford joined them. Taylor-cousin Taylor’s Brent DeBoer took over after Hedford left in 1998. The name of the band is a pun on the name of American pop artist Andy Warhol.
The band rose to prominence after signing with Capitol Records and releasing their major label debut,…The Dandy Warhols Fall Down, in 1997. The band achieved new heights of success in 2001 when their song “Bohemian Like You” received widespread recognition as a result of its inclusion in Vodafone advertising. Dig! was a 2004 documentary film about the Dandy Warhols. , as well as The Brian Jonestown Massacre from San Francisco. To date, they have released ten studio albums, two compilation albums, six EPs, and 27 singles.
