Corey Smith is a singer-songwriter and guitarist from the United States. Smith grew raised in Jefferson, Georgia, which is close to Athens. He studied Social Studies Education at the University of Georgia. He wrote the music and performed locally while in college. He began teaching geography, history, and guitar at North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee, Georgia, before deciding to pursue music full-time at the age of 28.

Smith self-produced nine albums through independent labels beginning with his debut album Undertones in 2003. While the Getting’ Is Good, his tenth album was released in 2015 on Sugar Hill Records and was produced by Keith Stegall.
