Ackquille Jean Pollard, also known as Bobby Shmurda, is an American rapper born on August 4, 1994. Shmurda is regarded as a pioneer of Brooklyn drills music alongside Rowdy Rebel. His single “Hot Nigga,” which peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100, catapulted him to international recognition in 2014. Due to the single’s popularity, Shmurda agreed to a contract with Epic Records. Shmurda She Wrote, his debut EP, was made available in November 2014.
2016 was the planned release date for Shmurda’s first studio album with Epic Records, which Jahlil Beats was going to produce. But because he was imprisoned, it was delayed. In a freestyle performance for the rapper Meek Mill in February 2017, Shmurda asserted that he was still creating songs while incarcerated. The next year, Shmurda contributed to the tune “Stoopid” by fellow rapper 6ix9ine by calling in his verses from behind bars. In the Billboard Top 100, the song reached its apex at position 25.
The Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, Florida, had Shmurda’s first live performance after his release from prison on Friday, July 23, 2021.
