Band of Skulls is a Southampton-based English rock band made up of Russell Marsden (guitar, vocals) and Emma Richardson (bass, vocals); Matt Hayward (drums; 2002-2016) was previously a member. Although Marsden and Hayward had been pals since high school, the group came together in college. Band of Skulls has five studio albums to their credit, the most recent being Love Is All You Love in April 2019. Russell Marsden announced on Instagram in November 2022 that Emma Richardson will leave the band to pursue a full-time painting career.
The debut album by Band of Skulls, Baby Sweetheart Doll Face Honey, was released exclusively on the iTunes Store on March 6, 2009, followed by a wide release on March 20, 2009. To coincide with the digital release, the song “I Know What I Am” was chosen as iTunes’ free Single of the Week. The song was also included on the Friday Night Lights, Volume 2 soundtrack, which was released on May 4, 2010. The song was also featured in the video game Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock. “Friends,” another non-album track, was included on The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack in November 2009.
Channel 4 aired a short documentary starring the band on April 12, 2012.
