Alba Farelo I Solé, also known as Bad Gyal, is a Spanish singer, composer, DJ, and model. She was born on 7 March 1997. Since she launched her musical career in 2016 with her Catalan-language rendition of Rihanna’s “Work,” Bad Gyal, known for her unusual overall usage of Auto-Tune, has amassed a sizable cult following. She then proceeded to compose music as an independent artist, producing recordings like “Indapanden”, “Jacaranda” or “Fiebre”. Two mixtapes later, Slow Wine Mixtape (2016) and Global Angel (2018), established Bad Gyal as a rising star in the Spanish urban scene.
A year later, Farelo signed with Interscope and Aftercluv. He gained popularity with songs including “Santa Mara,” “Zorra,” and “Alocao,” the latter of which peaked at number one in Spain in 2019. Her debut project as a signed artist, Warm Up, and Sound System: The Final Releases were both released in 2021.
In addition to music, Bad Gyal also works in modeling and fashion. At the Andrés Sardá Spring/Summer 2022 runway presentation during Madrid Fashion Week, she made her modeling debut. In terms of social activity, Farelo has supported social justice, LGBT rights, and gender equality.
