Jordanian/Bulgarian singer and songwriter Ayah Marar was born on September 20, 1980, and she currently resides in the UK. She has contributed to songs by British musicians such as Calvin Harris, DJ Fresh, Camo & Krooked, Bassline Smith, and Jack Peate as a vocalist or songwriter. The “Queen of Bass” and the “Queen of Dubstep” have both been used to refer to her.
Marar is active in the drum and bass scene and collaborated with Loxy & Ink to make her debut hit, “Dancing Child” (Signal Records). Before she met Calvin Harris and Toddla T in 2004 and began working with them, she recorded a number of hits in this genre. Marar and Harris briefly lived together, she traveled the world with him on stage, and she contributed to his second album by singing on three of the tracks. She also had cameo appearances on Toddla’s album and a single with his former band Little Arms Fiya.
Marar receives support from BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Ministry of Sound radio, and BBC Radio 1Xtra. The latter station has featured Marar on it multiple times for concerts and PAs, and artists like MistaJam and Bailey have also supported her. She has hosted radio programs as a guest. Unstoppable, a song she recently released, earned the Jam Hot Hit of the Week. Ayah established her solo career and created her own independent label, “Hussle Girl”, as a platform to distribute her own singles and impending album, “The Real”. On October 15, 2012, Radikal Records in the US and Canada and Hussle Girl and Transmission Recordings in the UK released her album The Real.
