Eugene Goreshter (vocals, bass), Greg Edwards (vocals, guitar, piano), and Carla Azar make up the American alternative rock band Autolux (drums, vocals). The trio started in 2001 and has three full-length albums to their credit: Future Perfect (2004), Transit Transit (2010), and Pussy’s Dead (2011). (2016). Their sound is influenced by post-punk, electronic music, krautrock, and shoegaze.
Autolux was founded in Los Angeles, California in 2001. Goreshter and Azar met while working on the score for Dario Fo’s play Accidental Death of an Anarchist. Azar first met Edwards while on tour with his band, Failure. Autolux made its live debut in August 2001, doing two gigs at The Fold in Silverlake Club. Demonstration, the band’s self-published EP, was released in March 2001. It included five tracks recorded on an 8-track in their rehearsal area on an 8-track.
Autolux announced the release of their third album, Pussy’s Dead, on April 1, 2016, produced by artist and producer Boots, who had previously produced Run the Jewels, FKA Twigs, and Beyoncé. The band was on the 2016 Coachella Festival lineup.
