Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago (born November 26, 1992) is a Puerto Rican rapper and vocalist better known as Anuel AA. His music frequently includes samples and interpolations of songs from his adolescence. He is regarded as a divisive character in the Latin music scene due to his legal difficulties and feuds with fellow Puerto Rican rappers Cosculluela and Ivy Queen, as well as with American rapper 6ix9ine.
Anuel AA’s debut album, Real Hasta la Muerte, was released on July 17, 2018, the same day he was freed from prison. The record was a financial and critical triumph. Over the next six months, he appeared on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart, establishing himself as one of the top Latino artists. In August 2019, he released the global hit “China,” a duet with Daddy Yankee, Karol G, Ozuna, and J Balvin. Since then, he has released the popular song “Me Gusta” with Shakira, as well as his second album, Emmanuel, which will be published on May 29, 2020. Anuel AA announced his impending departure from the music industry on Instagram and released a new song in November 2020, claiming family and relationship concerns. With his collaborative album Los Dioses with Ozuna, he returned to music. On November 26, 2021, his third studio album, Las Leyendas Nunca Mueren, with 16 tracks, was published.
