American hip-hop group 2 Live Crew, from Miami, Florida, achieved its greatest level of commercial success between the end of the 1980s and the beginning of the 1990s. Brother Marquis, Mr. Mixx, Fresh Kid Ice, and Luke Campbell made up the most well-known lineup for the group. Due to the sexually graphic lyrics in their songs, especially on their 1989 album As Nasty as They Wanna Be, they generated a great deal of controversy in the United States.
As Luther Campbell and Mr. Mixx were honored as winners at the 2010 VH1 Hip-Hop Honors: The Dirty South Edition, Brother Marquis and Fresh Kid Ice briefly reunited with them.
They both released the singles “I’m 2 Live” featuring Mannie Fresh, “Cougar,” and “Boom” with E-40 later that year. A new 2 Live Crew album called Just Wanna be Heard, featuring Too Short, E-40, and Insane Clown Posse was confirmed for release. It was supposed to come out in August 2010, but it hasn’t yet.
