He was the youngest of four children and was born John Dadzie; he grew up in South Los Angeles. In high school, he was initially exposed to the electronic music movement. After establishing Imperial Records alongside DJ Lith, he began to develop his production abilities alone, initially releasing drum and bass under the name Infiltrata. He chose to start producing dubstep in 2006. Thereafter, in honor of Zecharia Sitchin’s book 12th Planet, he adopted the alias 12th Planet. The work done under the moniker 12th Planet is entirely original. 12th Planet has frequently been referred to as the General of the Riddim for being one of the pioneers to introduce dubstep culture to America (in one of the USA’s electronic meccas, Los Angeles). 12th Planet has frequently been referred to as the General of the Riddim Gang because he was one of the pioneers to introduce dubstep culture to the United States (in one of the country’s electronic meccas, Los Angeles).
SMOG Records, which was formerly an event production firm, underwent a relaunch and rebranding in 2007 with assistance from 12th Planet, which is currently its head. One of URB.com’s “Next 100” in 2009, 12th Planet also received a special mention in their 25 Now! Additional problem. His music video for “Reasons,” produced by Scion A/V, was made available in 2010 and debuted and cycled on MTV 2. The remix of “Youth Blood” by Little Jinder by 12th Planet was featured on the dubstep compilation “Blow Your Head,” which was published in November by Diplo’s record label Mad Decent. Throughout a performance at Ultra Music, Skrillex also referred to 12th Planet as his mentor.
