Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, a Grammy Award-winning English soul and jazz singer-songwriter from Enfield, North London, was born on May 5, 1988. When her debut album, 19, was released in January 2008, it debuted at the top of the UK album chart and was given the Platinum certification. Chasing Pavements, a song with enormous popularity, was on the album.
In February 2009, Adele won two Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. On January 24th, 2011, her second album, 21 was released in the UK. Since then, it has been certified seven times Platinum for sales in excess of 2,100,000 copies.
