Imogen Jennifer Heap (born 9 December 1977) is a singer, songwriter, and record producer from the United Kingdom. Her work has been regarded as groundbreaking in pop and electropop music.
She was classically schooled in piano, cello, and clarinet from an early age. She began writing songs at the age of 13 and taught herself music production while attending boarding school. Heap joined to independent record label Almo Sounds at the age of 18 after being founded by manager Mickey Modern while attending the BRIT School, and then began working with experimental pop band Acacia. In 1998, she released her debut album, I Megaphone, an alternative rock record. Heap and English record producer Guy Sigsworth established the electronic duo Frou Frou in early 2002, releasing their only album to date, Details (2002).
