Dropkick Murphys are an American Celtic punk band who-formed in 1996 in Quincy, Massachusetts. Ken Casey, the band’s singer, and bassist has been the sole constant member. Drummer Matt Kelly (1997-), singer Al Barr (1998-), guitarist James Lynch (2000-), multi-instrumentalist Tim Brennan (2003-), and multi-instrumentalist Jeff DaRosa (2007-) are also current members.
Born & Bred, the band’s own imprint label, began distributing songs through Alternative Distribution Alliance in 2007. The Meanest of Times debuted at No. 20 on the Billboard charts in 2007 and featured the popular track “The State of Massachusetts,” while Going Out in Style debuted at No. 6 in 2011, giving the band their highest-charting album to date. Signed and Sealed in Blood, the band’s eighth studio album was released in 2013 and debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard charts. It featured the single “The Season’s Upon Us,” a Christmas song that became one of the band’s highest-charting singles, and the single “Rose Tattoo,” which has become one of their most popular songs. The band’s eighth album, 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory, was released on January 6, 2017, and began at number eight on the Billboard charts before rising to number two. Turn Up That Dial, their tenth album, was released on April 30, 2021. This Machine Still Kills Fascists, their eleventh album, was released on September 30, 2022. Okemah Rising, their twelfth album, will be released on May 12, 2023.
