The members of Asking Alexandria are guitarists Ben Bruce and Cameron Liddell, drummer James Cassells, lead vocalist Danny Worsnop, and bassist Sam Bettley from York, North Yorkshire.
Ben Bruce founded the band in 2006, and it became a six-piece in 2008, with the inaugural lineup consisting of Bruce, Worsnop, Cassells, Liddell, Joe Lancaster, and Ryan Binns. The band released their debut album Stand Up and Scream (2009) after the departures of Lancaster and Binns, as well as the addition of bassist Sam Bettley in 2009. Before Worsnop’s departure in January 2015, the band released two studio albums, Reckless & Relentless (2011) and From Death to Destiny (2013). Denis Stoff took his place, and the band released The Black (2016). Stoff left the band in October of that year, and Worsnop joined shortly after. In late 2017, the band released their self-titled fifth album, which marked a stylistic shift from their prior works. Their sixth studio album, Like a House on Fire, which was released on May 15, 2020, demonstrates the band’s continued use of a more simple and melodic hard rock style while also branching out into other genres. See What’s on the Inside, their seventh studio album was released on October 1, 2021.
