Tool is a Los Angeles-based American rock band. The band was formed in 1990 and features vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones, and drummer Danny Carey. Since 1995, Justin Chancellor has served as the band’s bassist, succeeding original bassist Paul D’Amour. Tool has received four Grammy Awards, toured throughout the world, and created albums that have topped the charts in various nations. The band has so far released five studio albums, one EP, and one box set. It debuted with a strong metal style on their first studio album, Undertow (1993), and quickly rose to prominence in the alternative metal scene with the publication of their follow-up album nima in 1996.
Lateralus (2001) and 10,000 Days (2006) maintained the group’s efforts to mix musical innovation, visual arts, and a message of personal progress, garnering critical praise and international commercial success. Fear Inoculum, the band’s fifth studio album, was released on August 30, 2019, to significant critical acclaim. Before its release, the band had sold over 13 million records in the United States alone.
