The Wombats are a Liverpool-based English indie rock band formed in 2003 by Matthew Murphy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Tord Øverland Knudsen (bass, backing vocals, keyboards), and Dan Haggis (drums, backing vocals, keyboards). They are self-sufficient and have distribution agreements with AWAL and Warner Music Australia. They have sold over one million albums globally. They released many EPs before their first full-length album, Girls, Boys, and Marsupials (2006), which was only available in Japan.
Some tracks from Girls, Boys, and Marsupials were used on the band’s debut studio album, A Guide to Love, Loss, and Desperation (2007). The band released and toured for the albums This Modern Glitch (2011), Glitterbug (2015), and Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life (2018) after releasing a self-titled EP in 2008 and touring for three years. Fix Yourself, Not the World (2022) earned their first No. 1 album, debuting at the top of the UK Albums Chart within a week of its release.
