Steve Raskin, Jon Horvath, Rob Myers, and Sid Barcelona make up the Washington, D.C.-based musical trio Fort Knox Five. Fort Knox Records, the musical collective’s self-run label, publishes songs. Their music incorporates funk, reggae, hip-hop, and electronic influences.
Fort Knox Five was founded in 2003 by four artists who had a vision for a new brand of funk-infused electronic music. Despite having only four members, the group picked its moniker “because our studio has always been called Fort Knox.” Steve Raskin was a member of Edsel and Raskal as well as ESL Music Recording Artists Liftoff and Thunderball, Rob Myers plays sitar and guitar with Thievery Corporation and International Velvet and also plays guitar in See-I, Jon Horvath recorded music with both DJ Dan and Raskal, and Sid Barcelona was also a member of ESL Music Recording Artists Liftoff and Thunderball. To release their music, Fort Knox Five established their own record label, Fort Knox Recordings, which is presently distributed by Washington, DC-based Dischord Records.
