Röyksopp is a Troms-based Norwegian electronic music duo established in 1998. Svein Berge and Torbjrn Brundtland met as teenagers and formed a partnership. During the Bergen Wave, they founded Röyksopp. After experimenting with several electronic music genres, the band cemented their spot in the electronica industry with their debut album, Melody A.M., released on the Wall of Sound record label in 2001.
Röyksopp has continually experimented with many electronic music styles. The band employs a variety of styles, including ambient, house music, and synth-pop. The band is particularly noted for its spectacular musical performances, which sometimes incorporate outlandish costumes.
Since their debut in 1998, the pair has received critical praise as well as popular popularity all over the world. To date, Röyksopp has been nominated for two Grammy Awards, has won seven Spellemannprisen awards, has conducted international tours, and has created albums that have charted in various countries, including four consecutive number-one albums in their own country.
