Dimitri from Paris (born Dimitrios Yerasimos, Greek: o; 27 October 1963) is a Greek-born French music producer and DJ. His musical influences include 1970s funk and disco sounds that inspired contemporary house music, as well as original soundtracks from 1950s and 1960s films including Breakfast at Tiffany’s, La Dolce Vita, and The Party, which he sampled on his album Sacrebleu. Dimitri combined these sounds with electro and block party hip hop from the 1980s.
He began his career as a DJ for the French station Radio 7, then moved on to Skyrock before joining Radio NRJ, Europe’s largest FM radio network, in 1986. There, he introduced the first ever house music show to be televised in France, while also providing runway soundtracks for fashion labels such as Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Hermès, and Yves Saint-Laurent under the leadership of sound designer Michel Gaubert. From 1993 to 1994, he also issued two solo EPs and contributed to the Yellow Productions collection La Yellow 357.
