Chris Liebing (born Christopher Liebing on December 11, 1968) is a German techno DJ, music producer, and radio host, as well as the founder of CLR Records.
Liebing was born in the German town of Gießen. He began involved in the Frankfurt dance music scene in the early 1990s. In 1994, he founded the Spinclub techno club and worked at Eye Q Records in Frankfurt. In 1996, he founded his first label, ‘Audio,’ which was followed in 1999 by CLR.
He launched the philosophy-themed Evolution in 2004, after a two-year production period. CMJ New Music Report called the album “a techno album to go to fight with.”
In 2009, he launched the CLR Podcast, which was available on iTunes and CLR’s own website every Monday. Liebing hosted the program, which featured guest mixes from a wide range of techno DJs. Martin Gore of Depeche Mode was one of the more noteworthy visitors. The podcast was broadcast weekly until 2015 when the 315th and final episode aired. It was replaced with a new weekly podcast called am/fm, which only offers Chris Liebing’s own mixes and live recordings.
