Annie Mac (born 18 July 1978) is a DJ, broadcaster, and writer from Ireland. She hosted a number of BBC Radio 1 programming, including BBC Switch and Future Sounds. She has DJed in different countries, including Ibiza, where she hosted her AMP (Annie Mac Presents) Lost and Found venues.
Annie began her career by performing in Ireland. Her first BBC Radio 1 show aired on July 29, 2004. She had previously worked as a producer at BBC Radio 1 and was heard as a jingle voice on the station as early as February 2004.
Her debut live set with the station was as part of the Essential Mix live broadcast at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Dundee in May 2006. Annie mentioned on the radio at the time that it was the first time they had put their trust in her to make a live mix.
Mac announced her departure from Radio 1 after 17 years on April 20, 2021, citing the need to spend more time with her spouse Toddla T and their children. She made the tearful news live on Greg James’ Radio 1 Morning Show. Clara Amfo, another Radio 1 DJ, will take over Annie’s Future Sounds show in July, while Danny Howard will take over Radio 1’s Dance Party broadcast. Annie Mac’s final Radio 1 show aired on July 30, 2021.
