Marquis Amonte King (born December 12, 1992), better known by his stage names Jefe or Shy Glizzy (stylized as $hy Glizzy), is a Washington, D.C.-based rapper.
Shy’s third mixtape, Law, was released on June 6, 2012. Complex named him one of the “10 New DMV Rappers To Watch Out For,” and the Washington City Paper’s Ramon Ramirez described it as “a well-connected tape that sometimes feels like it wants to be a major-label debut,” with guest appearances from Project Pat and Wale and production from Beat Billionaire, but Shy was “less polished, and more frenetic,” with hooks that are “repetitive and droning but also hungry and catchy.”
Shy Glizzy’s debut studio album, Fully Loaded, was released on October 18, 2018, and featured guest performances from YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Gunna, and Rick Ross. The album got favorable reviews and debuted at No. 35 on the US Billboard 200, selling 14,446 album-equivalent units in its first week. Glizzy will embark on a countrywide tour with Atlanta rapper Gunna on his Drip or Drown 2 tour.
Glizzy stated in an April interview with HipHopDX’s Daniela Evgenivna that his second studio album, Covered ‘N Blood, would be released on April 19. He described the album as “more personal” than the feature-packed Fully Loaded, saying, “It’s a really deep album. A lot of my music is like a diary. This one is about what I’ve been going through the last few months.” Covered n’ Blood was released on April 19, and peaked at 156 on the Billboard 200. Shy ended 2019 with Aloha, his second mixtape inspired by and produced on the Hawaiian island. He released the single “Lonely Vibes” on April 10, 2020. On June 19, he released the single “Right Or Wrong” with Lil Uzi Vert. Shy Glizzy’s upcoming project, Young Jefe 3, will be published on September 18, 2020. It was accompanied by a video for “Forever Tre 7,” which featured No Savage, a new signee to Glizzy’s label, Glizzy Gang Records, a 300 Entertainment imprint.
