The Shop Boys is an Atlanta-based rap group most known for their 2007 smash tune “Party Like a Rockstar,” as well as Demetrius “Meany” Hardin, Richard “Fat” Stephens, and Rasheed “Sheed” Hightower.
Shop Boys began recording their first album, Rockstar Mentality, after signing with Universal Republic Records, which contained rock-influenced hip hop. “Party Like a Rockstar,” the album’s debut single, was released in May 2007 and gained financial success, peaking at number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 and becoming the best-selling ringtone of 2007. Rockstar Mentality debuted at number 11 on the US Billboard 200 on June 19, 2007, and had sold 200,000 copies as of 2007. “They Like Me,” the follow-up song, peaked at number 98. The band was later dropped by Universal and signed to another label.
Shop Boys released “Up Through There” as the lead single off their second studio album in August 2008.
