Sevendust is an Atlanta, Georgia-based American rock band founded in 1994 by bassist Vince Hornsby, drummer Morgan Rose, and rhythm guitarist John Connolly. Following the release of their first demo, lead vocalist Lajon Witherspoon and lead guitarist Clint Lowery joined the band. Following a few name changes, the members landed on Sevendust and released their self-titled first album on April 15, 1997, selling just 310 copies in its first week but eventually achieving gold certification through touring and backing from their company, TVT Records.

Sevendust has achieved success with three straight RIAA gold-certified albums, a Grammy nomination, and millions of CDs sold globally since their inception. The band has produced thirteen studio albums in all, including a reissue of their first, Sevendust: Definitive Edition, which includes five additional tracks and a DVD.
