Rancid is an American punk music band founded in 1991 in Berkeley, California. Rancid, founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, former members of the band Operation Ivy, is widely regarded as one of the bands responsible for reviving public interest in punk music in the United States during the mid-1990s. Over the course of their 32-year history, Rancid kept a large portion of their initial fan base, the majority of which was related to their underground musical beginnings.
Rancid has produced nine studio albums, one split album, one compilation, two extended plays, and a series of live online-only albums to date, as well as being included on several compilation albums. The band has sold over four million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful punk rock bands ever. Let’s Go, the band’s second studio album, which included the hit “Salvation,” catapulted them to popularity in 1994.
