Naeem Juwan, better known as Spank Rock, is a Baltimore-based American rapper and composer. His 2006 album YoYoYoYoYo, produced by former group member Alex Epton, catapulted him to popularity. (XXXChange). The pair rose to prominence as a forerunner of post-millennial alternative rap, blending divergent hip-hop and club genres such as Baltimore club, Miami bass, electro music, and rock.
Epton departed the band in 2007 to pursue his solo production, while Juwan released the Bangers & Cash EP (2007) with pop producer Benny Blanco. Juwan released his second album, Everything Is Boring and Everyone Is a Fucking Liar, featuring a variety of producers including Boys Noize, Le1f, XXXChange, and Squeak E. Clean, after a five-year contract dispute with his label Downtown Records.
