Chevelle is a 1995 American rock band from Grayslake, Illinois. Originally, the band consisted of two brothers, Pete Loeffler (lead vocals and guitar) and Sam Loeffler (drums and percussion), as well as Matt Scott (bass and backing vocals). In 1996, Sam and Pete’s brother, Joe Loeffler, took over for Scott. When Joe departed the band in 2005, Geno Lenardo filled in as the touring bassist until Pete and Sam’s brother-in-law, Dean Bernardini, took over. Bernardini left the band in 2019, and Kemble Walters joined as a touring bassist in 2021.
Point #1, the band’s debut studio album, was released on a small record label called Squint Entertainment. Chevelle’s second album, Wonder What’s Next (2002), was certified double platinum by the RIAA after debuting at No. 14 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the United States. The band’s third album, This Kind of Thought (Could Do Us In) (2004), debuted at No. 8 and was certified platinum. Chevelle has since produced six more albums, including Vena Sera (2007), Sci-Fi Crimes (2009), Hats Off to the Bull (2011), La Gárgola (2014), The North Corridor (2016), and NIRATIAS (2017). (2021). Chevelle has also released two live albums, two DVDs, and two compilation albums. The band has sold over 6 million records as of 2022.
