Bad Wolves is a 2017 American heavy metal band. Following the success of their first single, a rendition of the Cranberries’ 1994 hit “Zombie,” the band went on to have a number of songs top the Billboard Mainstream Rock tracks list, including “Remember When”, “Killing Me Slowly”, and “Sober”. Disobey (2018), N.A.T.I.O.N. (2019), and Dear Monsters (2019) are the band’s three studio albums (2021). Tommy Vext, the band’s original lead vocalist, quit in January 2021 and was replaced by Daniel “DL” Laskiewicz. Conflicts arose between Vext and the band, leading to legal action, which included Better Noise Music.
Boecklin began writing the music for the band’s debut album in July 2014, and in 2016, he joined AudioHammer Studios in Sanford, Florida, with producer Mark Lewis.
On January 15, 2018, while in London for a recording session for her side project’s second album, O’Riordan left a voice message for Waite, asking him to come in the studio later that morning and listen to her vocals on the cover of Bad Wolves. O’Riordan died before it was recorded. On January 18, 2018, they released their third single, a rendition of the Cranberries’ “Zombie,” which charted on numerous Billboard charts. The song reached number 9 in Australia and number 23 on the Billboard 200.
It topped the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart in the United States. On February 22, a music video was released. Throughout the first half of 2018, the band toured with Five Finger Death Punch, Shinedown, Breaking Benjamin, and Starset. The band began a crowdfunding drive in October 2018 to develop a documentary on their formation and ascent to stardom. “Breaking the Band” would be the title of the film. They had raised less than $15,000 of their $65,000 goal by the end of the campaign. Despite this, the band received all of the contributed funds and intends to continue working on the project.
