Phantogram is a Greenwich, New York-based American music duo created in 2007 by multi-instrumentalists and vocalists Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter.

The band describes their sound as “street beat, psych pop” and defines their music as electronic rock, dream pop, electronica, and trip hop. Their music contains “lots of rhythms, swirling guitars, spacey keyboards, echoes, and airy vocals,” according to Carter. The Beatles, David Bowie, Cocteau Twins, J Dilla, the Flaming Lips, John Frusciante, Serge Gainsbourg, Madlib, Sonic Youth, Yes, Kevin Shields, and Prince were all influences for Carter and Barthel.
