Of Monsters and Men is an Icelandic indie folk/rock band founded in 2010 in Reykjavik. Nanna Brynds Hilmarsdóttir is the lead vocalist and guitarist, Ragnar “Raggi” órhallsson is the singer and guitarist, Brynjar Leifsson is the lead guitarist, Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson is the drummer, and Kristján Páll Kristjánsson is the bassist. In 2010, the band won the Msktilraunir, Iceland’s annual battle of the bands tournament. Of Monsters and Men released an EP called Into the Woods in 2011.
My Head Is an Animal, the band’s debut album, debuted at No. 1 in Australia, Iceland, Ireland, and the US Rock and Alternative charts, while also reaching No. 6 on the US Billboard 200 album chart, No. 3 in the UK, and Top 20 in most European charts and Canada. Its lead song “Little Talks” was a worldwide hit, reaching the Top 10 on most European music charts, including No. 1 in Ireland and Iceland, as well as No. 1 on the US Alternative Songs list.
