Elpadaro F. Electronica Allah (born Timothy Elpadaro Thedford on September 19, 1976) is an American rapper and record producer best known as Jay Electronica (stylized as J A Y E L E C T R O N I C A). Born and raised in New Orleans, he rose to prominence in 2007 with the release of his mixtape, Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge). Its success, together with the stand-alone single “Exhibit C,” led to Jay-Z signing Electronica to his record label, Roc Nation, in 2010. A Written Testimony, his debut studio album, was released in March 2020, followed by Act II: The Patents of Nobility (The Turn) in October of the same year.
Jay Electronica’s debut mixtape, Act I: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), was released on MySpace in 2007. It has been downloaded more than 50,000 times. Because of his success and catalog, Electronica was invited to join the Rock the Bells Tour in 2008.
Jay Electronica revealed on Twitter on February 7, 2020, the completion of his album, A Written Testimony, which was recorded over a 40-day span. It will be available on March 13, 2020.
Jay Electronica revealed on Twitter on October 5, 2020, that his previously unreleased album, Act II: The Patents of Nobility (The Turn), was now available for streaming on Tidal, two days after the album had leaked online.
Jay Electronica was featured on Kanye West’s album Donda’s song “Jesus Lord” in August 2021.
