American indie rock group MGMT was founded in Middletown, Connecticut, in 2002. Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser, both singers and multi-instrumentalists, established it. MGMT’s live band at the moment includes VanWyngarden, Goldwasser, Will Berman on drums, Simon O’Connor on bass, and James Richardson on guitar and keyboard.

Spin selected MGMT “Artist of the Day” on October 5, 2007. Rolling Stone listed MGMT as one of the top ten “Artists to Watch” in 2008[10] in November. The magazine later ranked Oracular Spectacular at number 494 on their list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. In the BBC’s Sound of 2008 Top Ten Poll, the band came in ninth. Additionally, they were listed in Last.fm’s Best of 2008 list as the most streamed new artist of the year. The group was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best New Artist, and “Kids” was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 52nd Grammy Awards. The Justice remix of “Electric Feel” won the Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, at the 52nd Grammy Awards.
