Donell Jones is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who was born on May 22, 1973. The songs “U Know What’s Up,” “Where I Want Be,” and his cover of Stevie Wonder’s “Knocks Me Off My Feet” are his most well-known hits. Jones’ first studio album, My Heart, came out in 1996, but his second album, Where I Wanna Be, which came out in the late 1990s, is the one for which he is best remembered.
With his own label Candyman Music Inc. and TuneCore, Jones published The Lost Files in 2009, a collection of unheard tracks that were produced between 1996 and 2004. The Lost Files, which served as a lead-in to his subsequent studio album, debuted poorly. Jones’ fifth studio album, Lyrics, was made available in September 2010 by Candyman and eOne Music. It was mostly produced by Jones, who also served as executive producer. It debuted and peaked at number 28 on the US Billboard 200 and at number nine on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it became his fourth entry. Two singles were created from the lyrics, one of which, “Love Like This,” peaked at number five on Billboard’s Adult R&B Songs list.
