Devin Copeland, better known by his stage name Devin the Dude, is an American rapper best known for his distinctive rapping style and the 2002 singles “Lacville ’79” and “Doobie Ashtray.” Devin Copeland was born on June 4, 1970.
The trio joined Rap-A-Lot Records after forming the Odd Squad, subsequently known as the Coughee Brothaz. Geto Boys, Scarface, and Too Much Trouble are just a few of the hip-hop acts that have released music on the label. Following this, Copeland joined Scarface’s Facemob before going solo in 1998. The Dude (1998), Just Tryin’ ta Live (2002), To tha X-Treme (2004), Waitin’ to Inhale (2007), Landing Gear (2008), Suite 420 (2010), Gotta Be Me (2010), One for the Road (2013), Acoustic Levitation (2017), and Still Rollin’ Up: Somethin’ To Ride With are the ten solo albums that Copeland has released (2019).
He decided not to renew his contract with Houston-based Rap-A-Lot Records in 2008, which led to the end of their 15-year partnership. He signed with the independent label Razor & Tie later that year. Currently, Koch’s successor, E1 Entertainment, is in charge of distributing Devin. Devin was featured in the 2012 stoner comedy Highway, in which two marijuana-smoking friends set out to travel the fabled Route 420 in search of the best cannabis in the nation. Songs by 2 Chainz, UGK, Smoke DZA, Tha Dogg Pound, Slim Thug, Curren$y, David Banner, Asher Roth, and other artists were included on the soundtrack. Devin said on June 24th, 2013, that his eighth studio album, One for the Road, would be released in September.
