Guitarist David Michael Navarro was born in the United States on June 7, 1967. He has made four studio albums with the rock group Jane’s Addiction, with whom he is best known. Navarro served as the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ guitarist from 1993 until 1998. He left the band after completing one studio album, One Hot Minute (1995). Trust No One, his sole studio album, was also released (2001).
Deconstruction and the Panic Channel, two bands connected to Jane’s Addiction, both featured Navarro as a member. As “one of alternative rock’s first great guitar heroes,” Greg Prato of AllMusic praised Navarro for his varied playing, which combines heavy metal, psychedelic, and current rock. Henry Rollins, the former lead vocalist of Black Flag, described him as “one of the last great guitarists” after seeing him perform with Jane’s Addiction. On the American tattoo competition reality series Ink Master, which aired on the Paramount Network (formerly known as Spike) from 2012 to 2020, Navarro served as both the host and one of the judges.
