English rock group The Slow Reading Club hails from Manchester. Build A Tower, their third studio album, debuted at number 18 in the UK Top 20 Hit Albums; its follow-up, The Pleasure of the Return, peaked at number 9 in March 2020.
Before landing on their current lineup of Aaron Starkie on vocals, Kurtis Starkie on guitar and backing vocals, James Ryan on bass, and David Whitworth on drums, the band had a number of line-up changes. At that moment, their career took off. “Forever In Your Debt,” a one-off song with a more radio-friendly sound, was released by them in 2013. “Days Like These Will Break Your Heart” was the song’s B-side. When their live following in Manchester began to increase through a combination of word-of-mouth and support slots for acts like Catfish and the Bottlemen, the band gradually recovered the momentum that Omerta previously possessed. During this time, a number of future songs from Cavalcade, their second album, were added to the live set.
The group’s third album, Build a Tower, was released in May 2018. It temporarily had a spot in the UK Albums Chart’s Top 20. To promote the album, the group went on tour. The Slow Readers Club, a band you’ve probably never heard of, manages to sell out establishments like The Apollo and the Ritz in Manchester, according to the Lancashire Post.
