John Stephen Sudduth, better known by his stage name Mikky Ekko, was born in Nashville on December 17, 1984. He is a musical artist and producer for Interscope Records. The 2013 single “Stay” by Rihanna, on which he wrote the lyrics and made an appearance, became Ekko’s first song to chart internationally. Time, Ekko’s debut studio album, was made available by RCA Records in January 2015. His second album, Fame, was made available on Interscope Records in November 2018.
In 2009, he collaborated on the recording of a cappella version of “Sedated” with producer Tim Lauer and engineer Dan Hansen. His debut EP, Odd Fruit, was consequently published on February 15, 2009. In order to produce Reds and Blues in 2010, Lauer, Hansen, and Ekko worked together once more. Together, they helped Mikky Ekko establish his persona and musical style, which helped him get more recognition in the music industry.
Fame, Ekko’s upcoming endeavor, has been under development since 2016. The album was created by Jay Joyce and was recorded in Nashville, Ekko’s adopted home city. The first thing from Fame to be made public was “Blood on the Surface,” which was released on October 13, 2017. On October 12, 2017, Paper Magazine debuted the song, calling it a “synthy vintage”. A second song, “Light the Way,” was released on October 20, 2017.
