English heavy metal band Loathe is from Liverpool. The band, which was founded in 2014, consists of bassist Feisal El-Khazragi, guitarist Erik Bickerstaffe, second vocalist Kadeem France, and drummer Sean Radcliffe.
They have two EPs and three studio albums under their SharpTone Records contract. SharpTone Records’ debut release under the label, Prepare Consume Continue, was first released in 2015 and then re-released in 2016. In addition to their first studio album, The Cold Sun, which was published in 2017, they also released This Is as One, a split EP with fellow labelmate Holding Absence, in 2018. On February 7, 2020, Loathe released their second studio album, I Let It In and It Took Everything. As a follow-up to their prior album, their third studio album, the Things They Believe, was released on February 7, 2021. It was entirely composed of ambient music.
Metalcore and nu-metal components are used in the band’s music, along with more experimental elements like shoegaze, progressive metal, and industrial music. Loathe has received nominations for the 2018 Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards for best new band and the Heavy Metal Awards for best UK breakthrough band. They were ranked as the third most likely contemporary band to become popular in a 2020 Revolver magazine poll.
