Marc Veira, best known by his stage name Flowdan, was born on March 17, 1980, in Bow and Poplar, East London. He is an English grime MC and record producer. He was a founder member of Roll Deep, gave the band its name, and continued to play in the group up to its break. He established SpentShell, his own record label, in 2015. Since then, it has added YGG and GHSTLY XXVII to its roster.
Flowdan has been a part of Roll Deep for a very long time and features on all five of their albums. He was a close buddy of Wiley, the crew’s de facto leader, and hailed from the drum and bass and jungle scenes. He was also a pioneering grime MC. 2009 saw the release of Original Dan, his debut solo album, which featured a number of guest musicians, including Frisco, Wiley, Killa P, and Riko. After releasing an EP in 2014 called Serious Business, Disaster Piece, his second full-length album, received better reviews than his first.
Flowdan has contributed to at least seven songs by dub and dancehall producer The Bug, with whom he frequently collaborates.
2018 saw Flowdan expand his record-making endeavors. The first two EPs on his new label and agency, SpentShell, by PK and GHSTLY XXVII, respectively, featured music he created. He also donated complete demo tracks, preset sounds, and samples to the London Grit Maschine expansion pack by Native Instruments. With vocals from D Double E, Nasty Jack, GHSTLY XXVII, and Meridian Dan, as well as production from Masro, Teddy Music, Filthy Gears, and Jammz, he released the four-track One Shell Fits All EP in June 2018.
