At the age of 16, Suge Knight first got Danny Boy a five-year deal with Death Row Records. With the R&B song “Come When I Call,” he made his debut on the Murder Was the Case album from 1994. (produced by DJ Quik). He released his debut single, “Slip N Slide,” in 1995. The song was produced by Reggie Moore and DeVante Swing, and the chorus was sung by Ginuwine, who was still relatively unknown at the time. The song’s music video was filmed in Cabo and includes moments featuring Tha Dogg Pound, Snoop Dogg, 2Pac, and Nate Dogg.
The choruses of the 2Pac songs “I Ain’t Angry at Cha,” “What’z Ya Phone #,” “Imagine Me Rollin’,” and “Heaven Ain’t Hard 2 Find” on All Eyez on Me, as well as “Toss It Up” on The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, are among of Danny’s best-known performances. While working for Death Row Records, he recorded songs for multiple albums, but none of them were ever made public.
Danny Boy also performed on American Idol and Tha Row’s soundtrack for Eddie Griffin’s Dysfunktional Family, however, he was eliminated because of his former label’s ongoing Internet promotion. He resides in the Atlanta, Georgia, suburbs and is currently working on several songs for his own label, Eclectic Soul Music Group. It’s About Time, Danny Boy’s debut album from 1996, was ultimately released on April 20, 2010, by Death Row Records under new management. DJ Quik and DeVante Swing produced the album.
