Rapper Keenon Dequan Ray Jackson, also known by his stage moniker YG (short for Young Gangsta), was born on March 9, 1990, in Compton, California. His first single, “Toot It and Boot It,” which he released in 2010 and featured Ty Dolla Sign, peaked at number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100. Because of the success of the song, he was signed to Def Jam Recordings. YG released mixtapes in the years that followed, including The Real 4Fingaz, Just Re’d Up, Just Re’d Up 2, 4 Hunnid Degreez, and others.
Remain Dangerous, his third studio album was released in 2018 to generally favorable reviews. His biggest charting solo single, “Big Bank,” featuring 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Nicki Minaj, peaked at number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100. 2019 saw the release of his fourth studio album, 4Real 4Real, which was dedicated to the late rapper and close friend Nipsey Hussle. My Life 4Hunnid (2020) and I Have Problems (2022), his fifth and sixth studio albums, came next.
